Regulus

Regulus was a first approach to understand the users’s emotional state through their facial expression. More specifically through their eye movements.

I could choose among several body signals like skin conductivity, electroencephalography and electromyography but to make a system understand the gaze, seemed to me more like a poetic affair.

I set up a glasses’s frame with an infrared emitter and an infrared sensor both pointed to the users sclera and a software (written in java) that could simultaneously play a video and record this signal.

I made a test with some people and selected feature film scenes. After that I put it all together in the same video in order to have some raw material for research. In the video you have a sample of this material.
